William Ralph Broome Jr.

World War II

United States of America
T

his is my husband's uncle, whom remembers "Uncle Bill" talking to him as a young boy. Bill served in the army and was injured on the beaches of Anzio, Italy. Was on a hospital ship recovering from his injuries. His body discharged shrapnel through his skin for years after his foot injury. He lost part of his fingers too. He talked about the trauma of seeing the tending EMT's head shot off and falling onto his chest with his nephew but never with his own children.
