aughter of Maj. Samuel Houston and Elizabeth Paxton and sister of Gen. Sam Houston, governor of TN and TX. Mary was the second wife of both Matthew Wallace and his nephew, Gen. Wm. Wallace, of Blount Co., TN. Apparently, she had no children with either husband. Mary spent her final years in a mental hospital. Although at least one of her sisters blamed this on the General, brother Sam attributed Mary's psychological condition in great part to his accuser herself.
