he youngest civil war soilder (drummer) C.P. "commodore" Byam, was the youngest enlisted drummer boy from the civil war (union). The United States Government awarded him full honors of the title in 1998, due to others claiming to be the youngest. He enlisted in the 24th infintry of Iowa (volunteer). He enlisted in 1861 and was discharged in Sept. 1864 (disability). He was awarded the Medal Of Honor for bravery from president Abraham Lincoln. He passed away in Washington State at 70 years old.
