"This" Valentine Kirkpatrick was born in 1830 in Cabarrus Co., NC to Francis and Elizabeth Callen(s) Kirkpatrick. Francis Kirkpatrick was the seventh child of Valentine and Martha McMurray Kirkpatrick, who lived in Cabarrus Co., NC, and were members and worshipped at the Rocky River Presbyterian Church in Concord. Valentine (grandfather & Revolutionary War Patriot), the father of Francis, had migrated to Concord from PA with other Scots-Irish settlers to the area. They held strong to their faith and supported the cause and fight for freedom in every way they could. A number of Kirkpatrick descendants and fellow allied families helped to settle the southern AL region, including the state's first capital of Cahaba. This Valentine is this researcher's GGG-grandfather. He served with Company K of the First Alabama CSA. He signed his oath to the United States of America while hospitalized in Montgomery following the War Between the States. Hornady) and lastly Valentine Kirkpatrick. Valentine m. Miss Mary Bell, daughter of Edward Bell, on 11 June 1856 by S. J. Bishop (Judge of Probate) in Butler County, AL [AL Marriages, 1809-1920 (Selected Counties), Compiled by Dodd, Jordan R., Comp.]. Valentine and Mary Bell Kirkpatrick had a family of six (6) children: India Alice; Johnathan Cervantes; George Alexander; Francis Edward; Joanna; and Walter. Johnathan/Johnathon or "J. C." aka "John" or "Johnny" had a son named after him named John Clayton. J. C. m. Emma Idola "Dola" Johnson. They had Luther Elton, John Clayton, Russell Wallace, Joseph Beder, and Annie Lou. J. C. and Dola are buried in Hiram; Paulding County, Georgia.
