ohn Dups was born in Pennsylvania - some have him born in East Hanover, Dauphin County, PA. John Dups from Dauphin County and also a Henry Dups served in the Lancaster Militia during the Revolutionary War. By 1799, John moved his family to Twin Township, Ross County, Ohio where he died in 1818 (or 1819). He was married to Christiana and had several children who started spelling their last name as "Toops".
