Captain Jack F. Lamdin was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank A. Lamdin of Omaha, Nebraska. He was born April 22, 1918. He was raised with one brother, Frank A. Lamdin, Jr. who served with the 7th U.S. Army in Germany during WW-2.

Jack graduated from Benson High School in Omaha and began attending Creighton University. Later he entered the University of Nebraska to study Engineering. He and his wife, Eleanor, and has twin sons, Jay and Brad in 1943.

Jack enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Corps in September 1941. After completing Air Corps pilot training and training as a reconnaissance pilot flying the Lockheed F-5 Lightning, he was transferred to the Pacific theatre in May, 1944.

Jack flew with the 8th Photo Reconnaissance Squadron on Biak island briefly before he transferred with his squadron to Dulag airstrip on Leyte island in late 1944. He had been appointed Operations Officer of the squadron by that time and regularly flew missions over islands occupied by the Imperial Japanese forces in the Philippines.

On February 20, 1945, Captain Lamdin Flew a Lockheed F-5E Lightning from Dulag airstrip on Leyte island to Hill Field on Mindoro island in the Philippines. In taking off for his return flight, he lost power in one engine, his aircraft rolled inverted, crashed and began to burn. Jack was rescued from the wreck of his aircraft was and taken to a medical facility with serious injuries. In the early morning hours of February 21st, 1945, he died of his wounds.

Jack's remains are buried at Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, KS.
