George E. Belue was born 26 November 1912, a son of Garrison Boyce and Mary (Pierce) Belue. He had the following siblings: Flavous William, Earlie Washington, Ralph, Nellie Ann, Elsie (Mrs. Henry Owens), Mattie (Mrs. Maurice Owings), Hattie Janice, and one unnamed brother who died at birth.

He married Betty Bradley of Tryon, N.C.

George enlisted in the Army 16 March 1942 at Ft. Jackson, Columbia, S.C. He was 68 inches tall and weighed 179 lbs. He received training at Ft. Smith, Ark., and Camp Cooke, Calif. He went to England in February 1944.

On 8 August 1944, he was wounded in the thigh in France and died in a hospital in England 19 August 1944.

His remains were returned home in July 1948. George was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery, Greenville Co., S.C. Petty Funeral Home was in charge of his arrangements.
