Christopher "Chris" Lloyd Capshaw, 79, of Oswego, passed away Monday, November 5, 2001 at his home.

He was born April 24, 1922 in Roger Springs, Tennessee the son of the late Matthew and Bertha (Antwine) Capshaw. Mr. Capshaw was an Army Veteran of World War II, serving with Co. B 398 M.P. Bn., in Normandy. He received the Purple Heart for his actions. He also served in the European African campaigns. Mr. Capshaw was employed at All Steel Equipment in Montgomery for 31 years until his retirement in 1986. He was an avid fisherman and loved to work in his garden.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Dorothy E. Gatewood of Oswego; four daughters: Linda (William) Pellens of Jensen Beach, Florida, Barbara (Tony) Geib of Aurora, Diane (Robert) Gatenby of Oswego and Lisa (Brett) Horton of Yorkville; two sons: Joel (Gwen) Capshaw of Plano, IL. and Daniel Capshaw of Seattle, WA.; 12 grandchildren: John (Audrey) Kelley of Virginia Beach, VA., Michael (Anne) Deutsch of Yorkville, Deborah (Bret) Fogelberg of Aurora, Erika and Todd Gatenby of Oswego, Matt and Lindsay Dunley, Brett Horton Jr., all of Yorkville; Ryan, Michelle, Eric Capshaw of Plano and Brandon Capshaw of Aurora; six great-grandchildren: Sebastian, Brian, Brandon, Megan, Kaylee and Tessa; three sisters: Jean (Jimmy) Skelton of Miss, Mildred (Jim) Almy of Aurora and LaDelle (Robert) Davis of Ark.; two brothers: Samuel (Peggy) Capshaw and Robert (Elaine) Capshaw, both of Tennessee: several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his daughter: Mary Katherine Capshaw in infancy; five sisters: Ona Maye Hammons, Alice Brubaker, Jessie Burgess, Ruby and JoAnn Capshaw; a brother: Grady Capshaw, and his parents.

Visitation for Mr. Capshaw will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2001 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 So. Broadway (Route 25), Montgomery, IL. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 8, 2001 at 11:00 a.m.
