His Majesty the KING has been graciously pleased to award the Victoria Cross to the undermentioned:- Second Lieutenant Edgar Kinghorn Myles, Welsh Regiment. For most conspicuous bravery. On 9th April 1916 at Sanna-i-Yat, Mesopotamia, he went out alone on several occasions in front of our advanced trenches, and, under heavy rifle fire and at great personal risk, assisted wounded men lying in the open. On one occasion he carried in a wounded officer to a place of safety under circumstances of great danger. GAZETTE ISSUE 30036, DISTINGUISHED SERVICE ORDER, His Majesty the King has been Graciously pleased to approve of the appointment to be Companion of the Distinguished Service Order in recognition of conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty in the Field. When all the officers except two had become casualties, he, for five hours, inspired confidence in the defence against two counter-attacks, and sent back most accurate and valuable reports of the situation.
