The Doctors' Thread

T

he story of the Mitchells of Killymallaght. This is an account of the Mitchell family in 17th century Ireland, mainly in the north-west of Ulster, in co. Donegal and the City of Londonderry, and their subsequent migrations to North America. Includes stories about Scotch-Irish Mitchell families in Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio and Kansas, and several other states as they migrated down the Great Wagon Trail and through the Cumberland Gap. The account focuses on Mitchell families who remained in Ireland in the Glendermott valley, co. Londonderry, in and around Killymallaght, in the parishes of Glendermott, Donagheady and Leckpatrick, and at Strabane, co. Tyrone, and the various emigrations of medical doctors in the course of the 19th century, to England, Canada (especially to Nova Scotia), the USA and South Africa.
